Afterward, he would spend brief periods at the Maneka family’s home before returning to Islamabad. The Manekas were locally renowned and had a ‘spiritual relationship’ with Khan. Bushra, then married to Khawar Maneka, was a respected Sufi scholar, spiritual guide, and faith healer, often referred to as a ‘pir’ or ‘murshid.’ This reputation played a role in Khan’s attraction to her, and she was known to organize pilgrimages to the Baba Farid shrine. Bushra Bibi described Imran Khan as ‘an extremely simple man’ and believed that he was the only one capable of bringing about the promised change in the country, despite acknowledging that it would take time, aligning with PTI’s slogan of ‘change.
