Drake has proven time and time again that he is all about his music and fans. And of course, this latest interaction between the mega star and 14-yaer-old Zelek Murray proves no different as Drake sent him a special, personalized message for his 14th birthday.
According to The Shade Room the teen has a rare form of brain cancer and after learning about his incredible fight from fellow entertainer, Mustafa the Poet, the Canadian superstar wanted to send him some encouraging words to help him get through his hospital stay.
“I can’t imagine how tough you have to be, and Mustafa let me know how you’re a fan of mine,” the rapper said in the interview. “Well, I’m a fan of you. I’m a fan of people with heart, and I can tell that you have a lot of heart. I just wanna tell you, stay strong, I love you, and I appreciate you.”
Of course, the teen’s reaction was priceless when his mother played the video, penning a thank you to the star on Instagram.
“THANK U @champagnepapi THANK YOU @mustafathepoet ….. You don’t even know how much this [meant] for US but most importantly ‘HIM,’” Zelek’s mother said in her caption. “His strength is like no other and yes he has his good days and bad days, BUT THIS is exactly what he needed to lift up his Spirit.. to never give up…Because you took time out of your day to put a smile on a 14yr old boys face….WE ARE FOREVER THANKFUL.”
In an interview, Zelek’s mother spoke to The Shade Room about the experience.
“This was so heartfelt and touching because Drake took the time out to give my son words of encouragement and light during a time that’s been very dark for me and my family,” she said in the interview. “The birthday has touched him in ways I’ll never be able to put into words.”
We wish Zelek a happy birthday and continued recovery. If we thought that it was impossible to love Drake even more, he just proved us wrong.
