Audiences have fallen in love with British creator Michaela Coel’s cheeky series “Chewing Gum,” but they’ll have to settle for the two seasons already released for the time being.
Coel confirmed news Monday, Aug. 21, that the BAFTA-winning program won’t have a third season for the time being. She thanked fans for supporting the show, which centers on protagonist Tracey’s hilariously cringe-worthy journey of losing her virginity and exploring her sexuality.

“Michaela is not currently writing a third series of ‘Chewing Gum” as she is focusing on some other projects,” her representative told The Fader Monday, “but [she] is not closing the door to the possibility in the future”‘

The show has become a hit in the UK, which broadcasts it on Channel 4, and is also big abroad thanks to Netflix. Channel 4 said in a statement to The Fader that “We hope to work with the hugely talented Michaela Coel again soon.”
While the network seems to have a cheery outlook for Coel, the feelings of fans have been left in shambles by the news.
