As a child, Fritz developed a fondness for collecting various items like rocks, beer cans, and postage stamps. He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes. During his teenage years, Fritz worked at Coast to Coast Hardware and Quad-City Automatic Sprinkler, as he had a goal of saving enough money to purchase a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that cost $4,100. It was during his time at Sudlow Intermediate School that he met Mike Wolfe, his future co-host on ‘American Pickers’. They both graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1982.
