In the midst of a spate of tragic train crashes, another accident has occurred— this time costing the lives of several of its passengers. The derailment of the Spanish train took place near Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Caught on what seems like one of the transit station’s surveillance cameras, the horrific footage shows the train traveling at a very high speed as it skids off the track while negotiating a turn.At least 78 of the train’s 218 passengers are said to have been killed and up to 131 injured, when all eight cars came off the tracks. This marks the worst Spanish train accident in 40 years. A driver has reportedly said the train was traveling around 118 mph — that’s more than double the designated speed limit.
