Jaycee Lee Dugard Birthed Two Daughters By Her Captor
Dugard was held captive and kept in a set of huts and tents in the Garridos’ backyard, where Garrido frequently sexually assaulted her viciously. During more than two years of confinement, one of these attacks led to a pregnancy. At just 14 years old, Dugard was compelled to give birth inside a tent without any medical support since she was unable to get to a hospital.
In an interview with ABC, Dugard spoke about the moment her baby was born, naming her Angel. “Then I saw her.” She was stunning. It seemed as though I was no longer alone. I wasn’t alone; I had someone who was truly mine. I realized that I had to protect her at all costs. Though I wasn’t sure how, I managed to accomplish that.
Dugard gave birth to Starlit, her second daughter, three years later. “I had a second person to love—and maybe another little piece of my mom to hold onto,” she went on.
Her Daughters Helped Police Finally Free Dugard
Even though Angel and Starlit were brought up to think that Dugard was their sister and the Garridos were their biological parents, Dugard continued to give her daughters her wholehearted attention.
Even though Dugard had only completed the fifth grade, she made every effort to impart to the girls what little knowledge she had of the outside world. The young mother organized a homeschooling program in the backyard compound and taught the daughters reading, math, history, and other subjects every day.
Angel and Starlit visited the University of California, Berkeley in 2009, escorted by Phillip Garrido. The ladies were early teens by now, and the university staff was concerned about their behaviour on the outing.
Fortunately, the police were summoned, and as a result, Dugard and her daughters were eventually set free and received justice. Dugard was overjoyed, but her girls found it difficult because of their complicated emotional bond with Garrido. In fact, it was said that upon their liberation, they sobbed with terror and sorrow.

Since Angel’s precise birthdate (August 1994) is known but not disclosed, it is assumed that she is 28 years old. Starlit is 25 years old today, having been born on November 13, 1997.
Understandably, they kept the most of their lives private, although Dugard calls them both “loving” and “resilient,” adding that as of 2016, they were both enrolled in college. Dugard also disclosed that while neither of them wants to communicate with Garrido right now, she would not prevent them from doing so in the future.
