Jason Robertson, born on July 22, 1999, is an American professional ice hockey left winger who currently plays for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was chosen by the Stars in the second round, 39th overall, during the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Although Jason Robertson was born in Arcadia, California, his family relocated to Northville, Michigan, when he was 10 years old to enhance his ice hockey opportunities. In Michigan, he played for the Little Caesars and Detroit Kings minor ice hockey teams before being drafted by the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in 2015. Robertson made an impressive start with Kingston, scoring 18 goals in his debut season, marking the highest rookie goal tally since Anthony Stewart. Over the next two years, he became the first Frontenac player to achieve consecutive 40-goal seasons since Michael Zigomanis. In the midst of the 2018–19 OHL season, Robertson was traded to the Niagara IceDogs, where he amassed 117 points in 62 games, earning him both the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy and the CHL Top Scorer Award.

On his mother’s side, Robertson has Filipino heritage, with his mother hailing from Manila and moving to the United States at the age of three. On his father’s side, he has Scottish ancestry. He holds the distinction of being the third NHL player with Filipino roots, following in the footsteps of Tim Stapleton and Matt Dumba, and is the second Filipino American player after Stapleton. Additionally, Robertson’s younger brother, Nick, was chosen by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Among his teammates, he goes by the nickname “Robo.”

Jason Robertson joined the Dallas Stars for the 2019–20 season but spent most of the year with the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars’ AHL affiliate. He was included in Dallas’s quarantine bubble for the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs but did not make an appearance in any games. The following season, Robertson secured a spot on Dallas’s opening night roster and performed exceptionally well, finishing as the Calder Memorial Trophy runner-up with 17 goals and 28 assists in 51 games. He continued his offensive prowess into the 2021–22 season, making history as the first player in Dallas Stars history to achieve consecutive hat-tricks in games.
