About Kari Lake Wikipedia
Kari Lake Halperin, born on August 23, 1969, is a former American television news anchor and a former contender in the Arizona gubernatorial race. Commencing her career in the early 1990s, Lake served as the anchor for KSAZ-TV, a Phoenix television station, from 1999 until 2021. She stepped down from her anchor position shortly before announcing her candidacy for the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election. Lake secured the Republican nomination with the endorsement of former President Donald Trump. Her campaign became known for several controversies, including her promotion of false claims that Trump had won the 2020 presidential election and her calls for the incarceration of those who acknowledged Trump’s defeat, including her Democratic rival, Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs. Ultimately, Hobbs emerged as the victor in the election and assumed office on January 2, 2023. Despite this outcome, Lake declined to concede and initiated multiple lawsuits in an effort to overturn the results and have herself declared the winner, all of which were dismissed by the courts.
In May 1991, Kari Lake initiated her career journey by taking on an internship at KWQC-TV in Davenport, Iowa, all while pursuing her studies at the University of Iowa. She later transitioned into the role of a production assistant and subsequently moved on to join WHBF-TV in Rock Island in 1992, where she served as a daily reporter and weekend weathercaster. By August 1994, Lake had secured a position as the weekend weather anchor at KPNX in Phoenix, Arizona. Her career continued to progress as she eventually assumed the role of evening anchor at KPNX. Later, in the summer of 1998, she ventured to WNYT in Albany, New York, where she took over from Chris Kapostasy. In 1999, Lake returned to Arizona and became the evening anchor for KSAZ-TV (Fox 10 Phoenix). During her time at KSAZ, she had the opportunity to conduct interviews with both President Barack Obama in 2016 and President Donald Trump in 2020.
