Keira Knightley would appreciate it if other people would stop watching her weight.
In a recent interview with British Elle, the 22-year-old actress expressed her deep dismay over the anorexia rumors that were triggered by the release of photographs in which she appeared exceptionally slender.
“It seemed as though I was endorsing something when that was absolutely not the case. I am slim because that’s my natural body type, and I was even slimmer at that time due to the demands of my work. Nothing more,” she clarified.

The photos in question were featured in Britain’s Daily Mail in January with the headline, “If Pictures Like This One of Keira Carried a Health Warning, My Darling Daughter Might Have Lived,” accompanied by an article written by a mother whose teenage daughter had succumbed to anorexia.
Despite Knightley repeatedly denying any eating disorder, she was sufficiently irritated by the implication to take legal action against the newspaper for insinuating that she was attempting to deceive the public.
“Yes, I did appear very thin in those pictures, but they were taken immediately after finishing filming for Pirates of the Caribbean, during which I had lost weight,” she explained.
“I undertake many physically demanding roles, but none are more rigorous than Pirates, where we shoot in scorching temperatures and perform combat scenes wearing wetsuits under multiple corsets. We engage in strenuous underwater fights with heavy props. Can you envision a more intense cardio workout than that, performed for hours on end?”
Nevertheless, the actress disclosed that the rumors troubled her enough to seek medical advice on how to gain weight.
“A doctor told me that, given my body type, to reach a [European] size 12, I would need to consume a substantial amount of unhealthy food, cease exercising, and consume excessive quantities of alcohol,” she revealed.
“Essentially, my body type is naturally slender. There’s nothing I can do to change it.”
If she could alter her physique, Knightley acknowledged that she might add a few curves and elongate her legs, but it’s not something she dwells on.
“My body serves its purpose. Ironically, I’m learning to be more content with myself as a result of all this,” she stated.
While Knightley isn’t ready to settle down and start a family just yet, she mentioned that when the time comes, she’s likely to step away from the public eye entirely.
“The whole celebrity thing is absolutely crazy,” she commented, referring to the constant presence of paparazzi outside her London residence. “I think I’ll need to relocate or give it up entirely. I can’t raise children in my current situation.
“I’m just not as hungry for it anymore. I recently made the decision that I want a life instead.”
In addition to the release of “At World’s End” on May 25, Knightley has two other films scheduled for release this year: “Atonement,” the big-screen adaptation of Ian McEwan’s novel, and “Silk,” a story centered around a 19th-century French silkworm smuggler.
Her next project sees her starring in “The Best Time of Our Lives,” a film based on the romantic entanglements of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, written by her mother, Sharman MacDonald.
Initially, Lindsay Lohan was set to co-star in the project but later withdrew from it.
