Mariska Magdolna Hargitay was born on 23 January,1964 in Santa Monica, California. She is the daughter of Mickey Hargitay, who worked as Hungarian Mr. Universe and Jayne Mansfield who is also an actress. She has two older brothers and three half-siblings. Her parents divorced when she was a baby. When she was three and a half half years old, her mother was killed in a car accident. While driving in the middle of the night from Biloxi, Mississippi to New Orleans, Louisiana, the car rear ended a truck at high speed. Mariska Hargitay was asleep in the backseat of the car before the accident occurred and was left with a small zig-zag facial scar. All three adults in the front seat were killed. All three children in the backseat survived. Mariska was raised by her father and his third wife, Ellen Siano. Her father also died in 2006 from multiple myeloma in Los Angeles, California, at age 80.
