Multiple Firings After Racially Charged Facebook Remarks Mocking a Black Child Go Viral

Gerod Roth, who went as Geris Hilton on Facebook, worked for Polaris Marketing Group before being terminated after the company was notified of racially charged comments posted publicly on his Facebook profile.

The initial post was made on September 16, and contained a picture of himself with the Black child of a coworker.

Soon after, his Facebook friends began to comment on the post, captioning the pic with bigoted and racists comments.

The post contained dozens of comments, many referring to the young boy as “sambo” or slave. One user, Emily Irene Red, commented: “I didn’t know you were a slave owner”.

The posting and ensuing comments went viral, angering many social media users who soon contacted many of the commenter’s employers.

The employer of Gerod Roth, issued the following statement on Facebook:

The user Emily Irene Red, was also reportedly fired after being notified of her racially charged remarks on the Facebook post.
